Discover Paris - Chocolate Tasting 2012

Well you don't have to ask me twice! A chocolate tasting, I can certainly do that. So when Monique and Tom asked if I wanted to be one of the tasters in their yearly Paris chocolate tasting event, I immediately said "heck yeah!".

Not a bad way to pass a Sunday afternoon really. No, we didn't gouge ourselves on chocolate, we took our assignments seriously, photographing every chocolate, tasting them, noting them and sharing our impressions with each other. My fellow tasters, Robyn Blaber (a Canadian in Paris), Eric Fraudeau (my husband and chef/owner of Cook'n With Class), and Richard Nahem (Eye Prefer Paris), and though we didn't agree on every chocolate, there seemed to be consensus on the favorite. Discover Paris will announce this year's Chocolate Taste Test winner on February 1st! So be sure to check back. In the meantime how about a little eye candy. We ended the afternoon finishing off the chocolates with a nice glass of Banyuls (a fortified red wine), which is excellent with chocolate.

Our gracious hostess - Monique Wells

This years participating chocolatiers were (in no particular order):

1 Michel Clauzel
2 Pierre Marcolini (see our blog post)
3 de Bauve et Gallais
4 Fabrice Gillotte
5 Crevant

We'll just have to wait till February 1st to find out who the winner was.
